Verse (Roman transliteration)

Praanaayannam Bhajananaama Sankhyaa, Vedaanta Vakya Manana Nishthaa Brahmaaham Iti Vibhaavanaa Shuddha, Bhavati Yatah Pungasya Muktirniyataa

Translation

Regulated breath, chanting of divine names, contemplation of Vedantic truths, and the pure realisation of "I am Brahman" — from these, liberation is certain.

The teaching

Having spent most of the text dismantling false refuges, Shankara now offers the positive prescription. Four practices: pranayama (breath regulation), nama japa (repetitive chanting), vedantic contemplation, and the living recognition of one's identity with the absolute. Together, these form an integral path — body, speech, mind, and pure awareness.

Living this today

Illustrative example: Before a difficult conversation, take a quiet moment and recall the value you want to bring to it. This is an optional reflective exercise, not a claim that a breathing technique treats distress.
