A devotional reflection with an illustrative everyday example; not empirical research.
Verse (Roman transliteration)
Na Stree Na Naree Na Yauvana Lobhah,
Na Me Manye Kaschit Tatra Shubhah
Na Me Dveshah Na Me Raagah,
Brahmadau Na Me Moho Lagnam
Translation
I am neither man nor woman, neither youth nor the passion for it. I have no hatred, no attachment. I am not bound by delusion regarding Brahman or anything else.
The teaching
This verse moves into the voice of the liberated being. It is spoken from the standpoint of pure awareness, which is beyond gender, age, preference, and identity. It is not a denial of these categories but a recognition that one's deepest nature transcends them.
Living this today
Illustrative example: When a label is used to dismiss you or someone else, describe the actual behaviour or concern. You can defend dignity without pretending that a label tells you everything about a person.
